Summary:
The Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) hosts an annual awards ceremony to recognise the achievements and successes of professional footballers across the various leagues in British football.
In 2023, the PFA celebrated the 50th anniversary of its annual awards. To mark this milestone, the event adopted a completely new format. Traditionally held at The Grosvenor Hotel in London—with a formal dinner followed by the awards—the 2023 ceremony was reimagined as a theatrical production, staged inside the Lyric Theatre at The Lowry in Salford Quays, Manchester.

Concept:
The PFA’s one key request was for the screen to serve as the prime focal point of the awards ceremony stage.
Building around this, the design positioned the screen as the nucleus of the set. Fragmented video content radiated outward, giving every audience member a unique perspective on the visuals.
A large, broken frame at the front of the stage, provided by the brand identity, highlighted this explosion of imagery behind. The PFA Awards are all about celebration, success, and achievement. By integrating the moving visuals into this fragmented stage design, the production created a high-energy environment. It reflected the spirit of celebration and the accomplishments of professional footballers.
